Cirdan Installs First Solas OR in Australia at Princess Alexandra Hospital
Cirdan is pleased to announce the first Australian installation of its Solas OR specimen radiography system, now successfully in operation at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Queensland.
Milestone Expansion into the Australian Market
This milestone installation marks a key step in the expansion of Solas OR across global markets. The adoption of the system at one of Queensland’s leading hospitals signifies growing recognition of Solas OR’s clinical value in delivering advanced intraoperative specimen x-ray imaging to support high-precision breast cancer surgery.
This first installation in Australia follows the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approval of Solas OR earlier this year and highlights Cirdan’s commitment to expanding access to innovative diagnostic technologies across the region.
Optimised for Breast Surgery to Reduce Patient Re-excision Rates
Solas OR is an innovative specimen radiography solution designed to deliver high-resolution imaging in real time using photon-counting technology. Specifically optimised for breast cancer surgery, the system is designed to support increased confidence in margin detection and help streamline surgical workflows. Its intuitive interface is built for ease of use in the operating theatre, requiring minimal training for clinical staff.
Collaboration with Princess Alexandra Hospital
The installation at Princess Alexandra Hospital was completed in close collaboration with the hospital’s clinical and technical teams, ensuring seamless integration into existing operating theatre workflows, which included integration with DICOM Modality Worklists and PACS. Cirdan extends its sincere thanks to the dedicated staff at the hospital for their expertise, cooperation, and enthusiasm, which were instrumental in the successful rollout of the system.
Stephen Dunniece, CO – Imaging Division, Cirdan: “We are delighted to see Solas OR now supporting surgical team at Princess Alexandra Hospital. This installation represents not only a significant company milestone but also a shared commitment to enhancing the quality of patient care through smarter, faster, and more effective intraoperative imaging.”
Jason McKittrick, Cirdan Production Engineer who supported the installation on-site, added: “It was a privilege to work alongside the clinical and technical teams at Princess Alexandra Hospital. Their openness and dedication made the installation process smooth and efficient. We’re proud to have played a part in bringing Solas OR to the Australian healthcare community.”
