People Behind the Product: A Day in the Life of a Subject Matter Expert

Meet Tracee Archibald, one of Cirdan’s Subject Matter Experts, based in our Australian offices.

Tracee is a true ULTRA expert! Her journey with our Laboratory Information System, ULTRA, began back in 2006, when she took on the role of Clinical Application Specialist in the Asia Pacific region, specifically looking after Transfusion Medicine.

Since 2022, Tracee has been better known as a Subject Matter expert. On a daily basis, she balances many different projects and responsibilities, from implementation, design and configuration projects, to supporting our global clients directly. In doing so, she forms an integral part of our expert team, allowing Cirdan to deliver for our clients in labs around the world.

We caught up with Tracee to get a deeper insight into the daily life of an SME, and how Cirdan forms an integral part of her busy life.

What activities does your job involve on a daily basis?

My days are never the same, which keeps things interesting! My day can range from working on support tickets for clients in Australia, Singapore & Malaysia, support meetings with AR Managers or Accountants, or implementation design and configuration projects such as my most recent task with a client in the UK. There is always plenty to keep me busy! Anything that requires a bit of extra figuring out, Greg Morris is always on hand to help or have a laugh (or a groan) with!

What is your favourite thing about your job?

I love a good problem-solving exercise, and seeing customer queries right through the lifecycle from issue reproduction, verification testing to implementation. I also love statistics, and being able to tell a story with graphs and reports to help our customers manage their data, workflows and teams.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

I have a husband & 4 boys which keeps me very busy. Of late, there have been a lot of Athletics events to attend on weekends. I am a keen runner and my husband a keen cyclist, so there is always a lot of physical activity keeping us busy. We also like renovating so there is always a project or two on the go.  In my very limited spare time, I am completing my second undergrad double degree in Biomedical Science (Majoring in Molecular Biology) and Science (Majoring in psychology).

What are you most passionate about?

I am passionate about medical knowledge and learning. I always have some type of educational pursuit on the go & I am a bit of a real-life medical show tragic! My family though are what keeps me grounded and laughing, and I am passionate about supporting our boys to succeed in whatever they set their minds to.
