People Behind the Product: Balancing Analysis and Adventure
Meet John Corry, one of Cirdan’s expert clinical team based in our Lisburn HQ.
John joined Cirdan back in 2017 as a Lab Analyst. John balances many different projects and responsibilities on a daily basis, supporting Cirdan’s clients with the implementation and running of their Laboratory Information System, ULTRA. In doing so, he forms an integral part of our expert clinical team, allowing Cirdan to deliver for our clients in labs around the world.
We caught up with John to get a deeper insight into the daily life of a Lab Analyst, and how Cirdan forms an integral part of his busy life.
What activities does your job involve on a daily basis?
The honest answer is that it entirely depends on the day! At the moment, a large portion of my time is dedicated to implementation for a few of our UK clients, or supporting clients which are already live. Either case means that there is always something new on the horizon, and always a new puzzle to solve. Squeezed between that is many meetings, coffee, and pestering Niall with HL7 related questions (and yes, pestering Niall is a daily job).
What is your favourite thing about your job?
I can honestly say in my role, I’ve never been bored! Every day is a fresh new adventure or a really complex puzzle to work on. It’s nice to have variety in one’s life! The best thing is that I genuinely enjoy the projects I’m working on and the people I have gotten to know and work with.
How do you spend your time outside of work?
A mixture of things naturally. On long weekends and holidays, it’s spent on road trips on the motorbike, camping, and exploring new places. Failing that, a book and a fire on a winter’s night is always a great alternative, along with Dungeons and Dragons with friends, and video games in general!
What are you most passionate about?
I tend to be very impulsive in my passions and my focus changes on a monthly basis. Some of my historical obsessions have been 3D printing, reading, cooking, and motorbikes! All these passions ebb and flow with time.
