People Behind the Product: From Biomedical Scientist to Lab Analyst

Meet Hannah Lockhart, one of Cirdan’s extensive Clinical Team, who joined us back in September 2023 as a Lab Analyst. Having previously worked for some years in the field of Biomedical Science, Hannah is a perfect candidate for working on and improving our LIS, ULTRA, for the benefit of our lab staff users around the world, which is now a major part of her role.

Outside of work, Hannah is an outgoing fun-lover, enjoying outdoor sports and activities ranging from horse riding, to rugby, to golf! Her true passion in life is to constantly challenge herself and always strive for new goals. She has certainly done that already in her time at Cirdan!

We caught up with Hannah to get a deeper insight into the daily life of a Lab Analyst, and how Cirdan forms an integral part of her busy life.

What activities does your job involve on a daily basis?

As a Lab Analyst working within the Clinical Team, my daily activities are diverse and dynamic, centred around ensuring an excellent customer experience. I analyse customer processes and workflows to help with the implementation of ULTRA and also identify areas for improvement, ensuring our product enhances efficiency and productivity. After spending 4 years as a Biomedical Scientist, it’s a wonderful feeling that I’m now in a position to help improve the lab workflows and thus having a positive impact on medical staff and patients.

What is your favourite thing about your job?

My favourite thing about my job is the opportunity to engage directly with customers through site visits and travel. These experiences allow me to understand our customers’ challenges, and provide tailored solutions that truly make a difference in their operations.
Traveling to different locations not only adds variety to my work but also enables me to see the tangible impact of our products and services in diverse settings. This dynamic aspect of my job keeps me motivated and continually enhances my skills and understanding of customer needs.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

Outside of work, I have a variety of activities that I enjoy. Horse riding is a significant passion of mine, providing a perfect blend of relaxation and excitement.
I also play rugby, which is a great way to stay active and involved in a team sport. It’s not just about the physical activity; it’s also about the camaraderie and teamwork that come with playing.
Recently, I’ve also taken up golf. It’s been a fun new challenge and a great way to unwind! Being from Northern Ireland, I do sometimes wish I had picked some indoor activities, especially in the winter months!

What are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about continuous improvement, both personally and professionally. I thrive on finding ways to enhance processes, solve problems, and drive innovation. In my professional life, I strive to enhance my skills and knowledge to provide better solutions and support to our customers.
Rugby is another true passion of mine. I love the physical challenge, teamwork, and strategic thinking the sport demands. It’s a great way to push myself, stay active, and socialise.
Travel is also something I am deeply passionate about. Exploring new places, cultures, and experiences. Whether it’s for work or leisure, travel provides endless opportunities for learning and personal growth.
