Cirdan is what’s known as the ‘Controller’ of the personal data you provide to us. We only collect basic personal data about you, which does not include any special types of information or location based information. This does however include, name, email address, organisation name, job title and telephone number, where you have provided it. An address is required at times for conference registration or billing purposes.

We may collect, store and use the following kinds of personal data:

  • information about your visits to and use of the Cirdan and Pathology Horizons websites;
  • information about your interaction between you and the Cirdan and Pathology Horizons websites;
  • information that you provide to us for the purpose of registering for one of our conferences and/or subscribing to our website services and/or email communications.

We do not source any personal data from third party vendors.

Via WordPress, we collect and store information about visits to this website such as geographical location,referral source, and pages visited, number of page views.

Our websites use cookies. This is a very small text file sent to a web browser by a web server and stored by the browser on your hard drive. (3) Using your personal data and why we need it

We need to know your basic personal data in order to provide you with email updates and marketing communications about our Pathology Horizons conferences and/or Cirdan’s products or services. We also use your basic personal details to administer attendance at our conferences. We will not collect personal data from you that we do not need in order to provide and oversee these services to you.

Personal data submitted on this website via online forms will be used for the purposes specified in this privacy policy or in relevant parts of the website.

In addition to the uses identified elsewhere in this privacy policy, we may use your personal information to:

  • send information (other than marketing communications) to you which we think may be of interest to you by email;

The legal basis we rely on to process your personal data is that of Legitimate Interest. This is because:

  • You have either signed up to receive information relating to Pathology Horizons Conferences or have attended and/or sponsored previous conferences;
  • You have signed up to receiving information in person or online about Cirdan and its products;
  • As a result, it is reasonable to expect to receive information about our conference and/or our company products;
  • It is very simple for you to opt-out of processing and communications at any point.

(5) How long do we keep your data

If you have paid for services, such as delegate registration or sponsorship we are required under UK law to keep your basic personal data (name, address, contact details) for a minimum of 6 years. Your information that we use for marketing purposes may be kept by us until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information by selecting the “unsubscribe” option on any of our mailings.

(6) Third party systems and websites

Appropriate safeguards are in place to protect the security of your data. We only use external IT services to support this processing, which are either located within the European Union or have suitable security measures in place, such as compliance with EU-US Privacy Shield Framework.

  • WordPress: We use WordPress, which tracks your interaction with our website and stores non-personal information about referring source and pages visited. Also collected is information about in which country the site visit originated.
  • Google Analytics: When someone visits or we use Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behavior patterns. We do this to find out things, such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting the website.

  • Third party websites: Our websites may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy policies of third party websites.

If you believe the information we process on you is incorrect you may request it to be rectified. Your rights include:

We do not pass on your personal information to other parties. We take reasonable precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal data. However, over the Internet data transmission is of its nature insecure, and we are unable to guarantee the security of data transmitted via the Internet.

We will store all the personal information you provide on our secure servers.
