Remembering Professor Ray McMahon
It is with profound sadness that the entire team here at Cirdan acknowledge the passing of Professor Ray McMahon, a distinguished figure in the field of pathology and a cherished member of the Pathology Horizons alumni.
Professor McMahon’s dedication to advancing pathology was evident through his extensive contributions and leadership.
He served as Treasurer of the British Division of the Interational Academy of Pathology (BDIAP) from 2007 to 2018, and as President from 2019 to 2020. In recognition of Ray’s service, he was honoured with the Cunningham Medal in 2016 and the President’s Medal recently, in 2024. To commemorate his legacy, the BDIAP has established the Ray McMahon lecture as part of its educational programme.
Professor McMahon left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working with him. His insightful contributions as a speaker at our Pathology Horizons conference enriched our discussions and inspired many within the pathology community.
Our thoughts are with Ray’s wife and family during this difficult time. Professor McMahon’s legacy will continue to influence and inspire the field of pathology for years to come.
